A Disciple Making Church

Obeying Christ’s command to GO and make people from all nations, Disciples

Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Our Core Values

LOVE GOD

JESUS- Relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the Center of our lives

John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

UP- We have a relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ

Matthew 22:37-38 “And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR

IN- We love and fellowship with those who are in the family of God. We do this often to be encouraged and held accountable to the Gospel we proclaim

John 13:34-35 “ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

OUT- We love those outside the family of God by SHARING JESUS with them

Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

What We Believe, Teach and Confess

REVELATION (Romans 1:20, 2 Timothy 3:16–17, 2 Peter 1:20–21, John 8:31–32)

-God has revealed himself through his creation, through Jesus, and through the Scriptures.

-To disbelieve or disobey any word of Scripture is to disbelieve or disobey God.

-The Bible is inerrant and the ultimate authority in all things.

-As Disciples of Christ, we should joyfully read, study and apply our lives to God’s Word.

THE TRI-UNE GOD (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 3:16–17, Matthew 28:19)

-God eternally exists as three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

-Each of the three persons is fully God.

-There is one God.

-God, in His sovereignty, rules and reigns over all things.

-We should submit to, adore, and glorify God.

HUMANITY & THE FALL (Genesis 1:27-31, Genesis 2:18-25, Genesis 3:1-7, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:12,19, Romans 6:16, 20-21)

-Men and women are CREATED in God’s image.

-Through Adam, we were all made sinners.

-God’s image remains present, yet marred by sin, in all humankind.

-We are sinners by nature and by choice.

-Sin corrupts every aspect of our lives and has no reward.

-The just penalty for our sin is death.

CHRIST THE REDEEMER (Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 53, John 1:14, Matthew 1:18, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Timothy 2:5, Matthew 28:18, Romans 3:21-27, John 14:1-3, 1 Corinthians 1:20-31, Romans 5, Hebrews 7:27)

-Jesus is the promised Messiah of the Scriptures

-Jesus is fully God and fully man.

-Jesus lived a life of perfect, sinless obedience to God’s will

-Jesus died as a substitute for us and paid the penalty for our sin, once and for all.

-Jesus physically rose from the grave, breaking the power of Satan, sin, and death.

-Jesus is the only way to the Father and thus salvation.

-Jesus is King over all creation.

-Jesus is coming again for those who believe in Him

THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (Ezekiel 36:25-27, Ephesians 1:13-14, John 14:16-17, John 14:26, John 15:26, John 16:8-14, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 3:16, Ephesians 4:30, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, Acts 1:8)

-The Holy Spirit is actively working before, during and after salvation.

-The Holy Spirit is with and in all followers of Jesus Christ, serving as a ‘down payment’ of our inheritance and guiding us in sanctification.

-The Holy Spirit often works through the gifts He gives His people.

-The Holy Spirit empowers us to be witnesses for Jesus Christ in our homes, our cities, our countries and the world

CHRIST AND HIS CHURCH (Genesis 2:18-25, Ephesians 1:16-23, Ephesians 5:25, Matthew 5:13-16, Matthew 28:18-20, John 13:34, Ephesians 2:14-16, 19-22)

-God has chosen to continue his work on earth through the church.

-Those that choose to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior make up the body of Christ, known as the Church

-Men and women are equal image-bearers of God as Disciples of Christ and have access to God because of Jesus Christ.

-Each and every church is to be making disciples and living as salt and light to those around them.

-Jesus died not just to reconcile us to God, but to reconcile us with each other.

BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER (Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 6:3-5, Matthew 26:26-29, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, Colossians 2:12)

-Baptism and The Lord’s Supper are two ordinances, instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ are to be observed by the Church.

-Baptism is a picture of the death of one’s old way of life and the rising of the disciple’s new life in Christ.

-The Lord’s Supper (Communion) is the sign of the New Covenant  and is to be observed throughout the disciple’s life, on earth, as a sign of continuing fellowship with Jesus Christ until we are with Him forever more.

-As a Disciple Making Church we practice “Believers Baptism” by full submersion.  Meaning a child or adult must proclaim faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior.  That He died was buried and was raised from the grave.

-Every disciple has not only the privilege but the responsibility to baptize and administer communion.

THE RESTORATION OF ALL THINGS (Revelation 19:11-16, 1 Corinthians 15:20-26, Revelation 21:1-5)

-There will be a physical resurrection of both the saved and the condemned.

-Those that rejected Jesus Christ will experience eternal conscious punishment in hell.

-Those that confess Christ as their Lord and Savior will joyfully live with Him forever.

THE GOSPEL (1 Corinthians 2:1-5, 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, 1 John 1:1-4, Romans 10:9-13, Matthew 28:18-20)

-The Gospel is the historically true story of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection.

-The Gospel is the Good News of Christ and is to be shared with all by those who are Christ’s disciples

 DISCIPLES OF CHRIST (Luke 6:40, Matthew 10:24-25, Matthew 16: 24-25, Luke 14:26,33, John 8:31-32, John 13:34-35, 1 John 2:6, Matthew 28:18-20)

- Disciples of Christ are those believers who follow Christ and His command to make disciples of the nations

- As Disciples of Christ our ultimate Teacher is Christ

- As Disciples of Christ we follow Christ’s teachings and commandment found in the Gospels

- As Disciples of Christ we desire is to be like Our Teacher, Jesus Christ

- As Disciples of Christ we deny ourselves, put away our own desires and follow Jesus, daily

- As Disciples of Christ we count everything as lost when we compare it to Christ

- As Disciples of Christ we read, study, and live by the Word of God

- As Disciples of Christ we are known by our love for one another

- As Disciples of Christ we earnestly seek to rid our lives of sin and live as Jesus did

-As Disciples of Christ we take the Great Commission literally

PRAYER (Mark 1:35, Luke 5:16, John 17:20-21. Matthew 6:10, 9:36-38, Luke 22:46, Philippians 4:6)

-We are to be a people of prayer just as Jesus was a man of prayer

-We pray to the Lord for the Body of Christ

-We pray to the Lord for unity in the Body of Christ

-We pray to the Lord to send more believers to reach the lost.

-We pray to the Lord that we will not give in to temptation

-We pray for God’s Will not our own

-We pray that the Body of Christ would grow in the knowledge of Christ

-We bring everything to the Lord in prayer

GRACE (2 Corinthians 12:9, Ephesians 2:8-9, 2 Peter 3:9, Romans 3:24, 6: 1-4, 24; Romans 8:1)

-God’s Grace is sufficient for us and His Power is made perfect in our weakness.

-God’s Grace has saved us through faith

-God’s Grace is the gift from Him and not a result of our works

- God’s Grace has justified us, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

-God’s Grace is not an opportunity to continue in sin but an opportunity to continue to live for Jesus

- God is patient toward us, He does not desire for anyone to perish, but for to reach repentance

-We are not condemned because of Christ Jesus

- Sin has no dominion over us, because we are not under law but under grace
